The passenger sensing system will
turn off the passenger frontal air
bag under the following
conditions:
•
The front passenger seat has no
weight placed on it for a period
of time.
•
The system detects a child in a
rear-facing infant seat.
•
The system detects a child in a
forward-facing child restraint.
•
The system detects a child in a
booster seat.
•
The front passenger seat is
occupied by a smaller person,
such as a child who has out
grown child restraints or a very
small adult.
It is important to note that for
some children who have
outgrown child restraints and
for very small adults, the
system may or may not turn off
the air bag, depending upon
the person's seating posture
and body build.
Everyone in your vehicle who
has outgrown child restraints
should wear a safety belt
properly, whether or not there
is an air bag for that person.
The passenger air bag is also
turned off if there is a critical
problem with the frontal air bag
system or with the passenger
sensing system.
Section 2
The "off" indicator will stay on if
the front passenger's air bag is
deactivated.
