Expression Show Control System

Lesson 1
Using the digitizer

To use the digitizer, touch the specified area of the digitizer template with the
stylus

. Use the level control strip (bar to right side of grid area) to set captured

channel levels by dragging the pen along the strip. (Moving the pen up increases
channel levels; moving it down decreases them.)

The remaining area of the tablet is available for up to 640 user-definable regions

.

Within each of these regions you may assign a sequence of up to 32 presses

.

Each region is a special type of macro that you can use to execute cues, manipu-
late channel levels or execute any series of keystrokes

. Once you have pro-

grammed a region, you can start the associated macro by touching the region on
the tablet.

For example, you might draw a picture of the stage and outline regions corre-
sponding to various fixtures

. Program a region to select the channels for that area

of the stage

. You can then touch that region to select channels, and then enter

desired level.

Or, you might program more abstract regions on the worksheet

. For example,

you might program several areas on the worksheet, each representing a func-
tional lighting group

.

A sample digitizer template is illustrated below. The control buttons, arrow keys
and numeric keypad are lcated in the upper third of the template. The large grey
block is where you record regions. The level control strip is located along the
right edge. It functions similarly to the fader wheel on an

console, allowing you to adjust the levels of selected, captured channels. Drag
the stylus up the strip to increase channel levels or down to decrease them.
