Dim
[Dim] allows you to select a specific dimmer or a group of dimmers. The two
times when you need to select dimmers are when you are creating your soft-
patch or when you want to unpatch a single dimmer. For more information about
creating a softpatch, see
Entering softpatch and system settings on page 16.
Unpatching a dimmer is explained below.
[Dim] lets you select a single dimmer and bring it up independent of other
dimmers softpatched into the same channel. This is called unpatching a dimmer.
If a channel has more than one dimmer softpatched into it, you may want to
unpatch a single dimmer to check individual fixtures, to turn on a work light, or to
focus a single dimmer in a channel. To unpatch a dimmer, follow these steps:
1.
Determine which dimmer you want to unpatch. (You may want to display
the softpatch screen to display the current dimmer to channel patching.
Press [Patch] to display the softpatch screen.)
2.
Press [Stage], then [Dim].
3.
Enter the number of the dimmer you want to unpatch.
Note: Unpatching does not affect the level at which other dimmers in the
channel are set. If you want all other dimmers in the channel off, set the
channel at zero before selecting the dimmer.
4.
Press [Enter] to set the unpatched dimmer at full intensity, or press [At]
and a two-digit intensity level to set it at a level less than 100 percent.
5.
Press [Dim] [Clear] to restore the dimmer to the patch. Pressing [Patch] to
enter Patch display also restores the patch.
Note: You can perform most other console tasks with a dimmer or dim-
mers unpatched.
Hint: You can perform a dimmer check by pressing [Dim] [1] [Enter], then press-
ing [Dim] [+] to move to each subsequent dimmer. You may wish to write this
procedure as a macro if you use dimmer checks often.
Example
[Stage] [Dim] [1] [Enter] unpatches dimmer one. [Dim] [Clear] restores patch.
