Chapter 3 —Personalizing Your System
To access the Parameters described on this page (unless otherwise noted):
Press the System button , turn the Parameter knob to locate the parameter ,
and then turn the Value knob to change the parameter's setting .

the names o f the Expansion Boa r ds in W ave E X P Slots 2 and 3 ( i f they ’ r e installed ) .
I f the r e a r e no Expansion Boa r ds installed, the display will show “ W aveE X P1= ** E M P T Y** . ”
Note:
I f you ’ ve installed Expansion Boa r ds and the M R - R ack appea r s not to be
r ecognizing them, ca r e f ully r epeat the inst r uctions in “ How T o I nstall an Expansion
Boa r d ” f r om C h a p t er 7 . I f the M R - R ack still doesn ’ t r ecognize the Expansion Boa r d,

U sing the M R - R ac k t o Play Ge ne r al MID I M usic

matte r what b r and o r model Gene r al M I D I inst r ument you use in con j unction with you r
pe r sonal compute r to play back a Gene r al M I D I r eco r ding, the music is gua r anteed to sound

To Use the MR-Rack as a General MIDI Sound Module
1. P r ess System.
2. P r ess System again. T he display shows :
System parameters:
Hit ENTER for GM!
3. I f you ’ d like to continue, p r ess Ente r . I f not, p r ess Exit.
P r essing Ente r selects the R O M G M pe r f o r mance, selects Pa r t 1, and sets Pe r f
P r ogChg R ecv=O ff .
T he M R - R ack is now p r epa r ed to ope r ate in con j unction with Gene r al M I D I . I f you r G M
sequence r ’ s M I D I Out is connected to the M R - R ack ’ s M I D I I n, you ’ r e r eady to sta r t the
music !
To Set the MR-Rack to Power Up Ready for General MIDI Music
1. P r ess System.
2. T u r n the Pa r amete r knob until the display shows “ W akeUp M ode=. ”
T he W akeUp M ode pa r amete r can be set to :
• L ast Page — the last page displayed when the M R - R ack was tu r ned o ff will be
r esto r ed when it ’ s tu r ned on
• L ast Sound — the last Sound selected when the M R - R ack was tu r ned o ff will be
displayed when it ’ s tu r ned on
• G M — when the M R - R ack is tu r ned on, it will be r eady to ope r ate with a Gene r al
M I D I sequence r
• Demo — when the M R - R ack is tu r ned on, the Demo Pe r f o r mance and Pa r t 1 will be
selected, and P r og r am Changes r eceived on the Stak M I D I channel will choose new
Pe r f o r mances
3. Use the V alue knob to set W akeUp M ode to G M .
