Chapter 3 —Personalizing Your System
To access the Parameters described on this page (unless otherwise noted):
Press the System button , turn the Parameter knob to locate the parameter ,
and then turn the Value knob to change the parameter's setting .

Global Pitch Bend Up and Down
Both Pitch Bend Up and Pitch Bend Down have thei r own individual settings, and eithe r can
be set to r aise o r lowe r the pitch o f any Pa r t Sound whose Pitch Bend Up o r Down Pa r t
pa r amete r is set to “ Sys. ”
To Determine the Global Pitch Bend Up Range
1. P r ess System.
2. T u r n the Pa r amete r knob until the display shows “ Pitch Bend Up=. ”
T he global Pitch Bend Up pa r amete r can be set to :
• 1-12dn o r 1-12up — the pitch o f Pa r t Sounds whose Pitch Bend Up=Sys will be
lowe r ed o r r aised by the numbe r o f equal-tempe r semitones set he r e when a Pitch
Bend W heel is pushed all the way f o r wa r d
• O ff— any Pa r t Sounds whose Pitch Bend Up=Sys will igno r e M I D I messages
r eceived f r om a Pitch Bend W heel pushed f o r wa r d
3. Use the V alue knob to set the Pitch Bend Up value you desi r e.
To Determine the Global Pitch Bend Down Range
1. P r ess System.
2. T u r n the Pa r amete r knob until the display shows “ Pitch Bend Down=. ”
T he global Pitch Bend Down pa r amete r can be set to :
• 1-12dn o r 1-12up — the pitch o f Pa r t Sounds whose Pitch Bend Down=Sys will be
lowe r ed o r r aised by the numbe r o f equal-tempe r semitones set he r e when a Pitch
Bend W heel is pulled all the way back
• O ff— any Pa r t Sounds whose Pitch Bend Up=Sys will igno r e M I D I messages
r eceived f r om a Pitch Bend W heel pulled back
3. Use the V alue knob to set the Pitch Bend Down value you desi r e.
Setting the Global Pitch Bend Mode
T he PitchBend M ode pa r amete r unlocks a powe r f ul f eatu r e that allows you to decide which
notes will be a ff ected by Pitch Bend messages when Pa r t Sounds use the global Pitch Bend.

• No r mal — Pitch Bend messages will a ff ect all notes cu rr ently sounding.
• Held — Pitch Bend messages will a ff ect only those notes sounding f r om keys which a r e
being physically held down.
Notes held with the sustain pedal o
r in thei r r elease stage will r emain at thei r o r iginal
pitch. T his f eatu r e can be used to c r eate guita r -style pitch bends o r to “ paint ” with
pitch, leaving di ff e r ent notes sustaining at di ff e r ent pitches.
