Connecting the Rest of Your System
Now that you ’ ve made you r M I D I connections between you r compute r and the M R - R ack,
skip ahead to “ M aking A udio Connections ” late r in this chapte r .
Sequencing with the MR-Rack, a Computer and a Controller

pu r chase a M I D I inte r f ace f o r you r compute r . T he r e a r e many excellent M I D I sequencing
p r og r ams on the ma r ket, including Gene r al M I D I sequence r s. Once you ’ ve installed one on
you r compute r , you ’ ll be able to pu r chase and play p r e- r eco r ded sequences — o r r eco r d you r
own music — using the Sounds onboa r d the M R - R ack.
T his set-up will allow you to play the M R - R ack ’ s Sounds f r om you r cont r olle r while
r eco r ding into the compute r sequence r . W hen the sequence r plays back the music, it will
use the same M R - R ack Sounds. W hen using a compute r sequence r , it ’ s c r itical that you r
cont r olle r , sequence r , compute r and — i f you ’ r e using one — you r M I D I inte r f ace be con f igu r ed
co rr ectly. Consult thei r documentation to lea r n how to use them with a multi-timb r al
module such as the M R - R ack.

To Connect the MR-Rack
1. Connect one end o f a M I D I cable to you r cont r olle r ’ s M I D I Out.
2. Connect the cable ’ s othe r end to the compute r ’ s M I D I I n.
3. Connect one end o f the othe r M I D I cable to the compute r ’ s M I D I Out.
4. Connect its othe r end to the M R - R ack ’ s M I D I I n.
