Chapter 3 —Personalizing Your System
To access the Parameters described on this page (unless otherwise noted):
Press the System button , turn the Parameter knob to locate the parameter ,
and then turn the Value knob to change the parameter's setting .

To Determine the Global Pitch Bend’s Behavior
1. P r ess System.
2. T u r n the Pa r amete r knob until the display shows “ PitchBend M ode=. ”
T he global PitchBend M ode pa r amete r can be set to :
• No r mal — all notes o f Pa r t Sounds utilizing the global Pitch Bend will be a ff ected
when Pitch Bend messages a r e r eceived
• Held — only notes o f Pa r t Sounds utilizing the global Pitch Bend set-up which a r e
being physically held down will be a ff ected when Pitch Bend messages a r e r eceived
• P r og — notes set to bend acco r ding to the p r og r amming o f Pa r t Sounds utilizing the
global Pitch Bend will be a ff ected when Pitch Bend messages a r e r eceived
3. Use the V alue knob to set the PitchBend M ode to the desi r ed value.
R e t uning the M R - R ac k
Fine Tuning the MR-Rack
T he r e may be a time when you need to use the M R - R ack with an inst r ument that j ust can ’ t
be tuned, o r i f you have to deal with musicians who don ’ t want to r etune f o r one r eason o r
anothe r . T he tuning pa r amete r allows you to ad j ust the M R - R ack ' s tuning to match othe r
inst r uments. T he M R - R ack de f aults to A =440, with an equi-tempe r ed pitch table.
To Fine Tune the MR-Rack
1. P r ess System.
2. T u r n the Pa r amete r knob until the display shows “ Fine T uning=. ”
3. Use the V alue knob to set the amount that you want to r aise o r lowe r the pitch. T he
pitch can be lowe r ed o r r aised f r om -50 to +49 cents.
Note:
Setting the M R - R ack to 0 cents is equivalent to A =440. 100 cents is the
equivalent o f a semitone.
Using Pitch Tables
T he inte r vals ( o r r elationships ) between notes in a scale can be alte r ed to c r eate special pitch
tables. T he M R - R ack ’ s pitch tables have a tuning r esolution o f 256 cents pe r semitone. T he
de f ault pitch table is “ Equal T empe r , ” the weste r n 12-tone equi-tempe r ed pitch table.
Howeve r , you can select f r om a la r ge asso r tment o f t r aditional, mode r n, ethnic, and exotic
pitch tables in the M R - R ack. T he M R - R ack also p r ovides a R A M location f o r a custom pitch
table, and suppo r ts the M I D I pitch table Bulk T uning Dump and Single Note T uning Change
standa r ds. I f you ’ ve got the app r op r iate compute r p r og r am, you can c r eate you r own pitch
tables, and t r ansmit them to the M R - R ack via SysEx ( see “ Pitch T ables and the M I D I
