T he M R - R ack contains a substantial
amount o f compute r ized and
elect r onic ci r cuit r y that can be
susceptible to damage when exposed
to ext
r eme tempe r atu r e changes.
W hen the M R - R ack is b r ought inside
a f te r sitting in a cold climate ( i.e.,
the back seat o f you r ca r ) ,
condensation builds up on the
inte
r nal ci r cuit r y in much the same
way a pai r o f glasses f ogs up when
you come inside on a cold day. I f the
unit is powe r ed up as this
condensation occu r s, components
can sho r t out o r be damaged.
Excessively high tempe r atu r es also
pose a th r eat to the unit, st r essing
both the inte r nal ci r cuits as well as
the case. W ith this in mind, it is
highly advisable to f ollow these
p r ecautions when sto r ing, mounting
and setting up you r M R - R ack :
• A void leaving the M R - R ack in
tempe r atu r es o f less than 50
deg r ees Fah r enheit o r mo r e than
100 deg r ees Fah r enheit.
• W hen b r inging the M R - R ack
indoo r s a f te r t r avel, allow the
unit at least 20 minutes to r each
r oom tempe r atu r e be f o r e
powe r ing up. I n the case o f
excessive outdoo r tempe r atu r es
( below 50 deg r ees Fah r enheit o r
above 100 deg r ees Fah r enheit ) ,
allow an hou r o r mo r e be f o r e
powe r up.
• A void leaving the M R - R ack
inside a vehicle exposed to di r ect
sunlight.
C l e a n U p a n d M a i n t e n a n c e
Clean the exte r io r o f you r M R - R ack
with a so f t, lint- f r ee, d r y ( o r slightly
damp ) cloth. Y ou can use a slightly
dampened cloth ( with a mild neut r al
dete r gent ) to r emove stubbo r n di r t,
but make su r e that the M R - R ack is
tho r oughly d r y be f o r e tu r ning on
the powe r . Neve r use alcohol,
benzene, volatile cleane r s, solvents,
ab r asives, polish o r r ubbing
compounds.
R a c k M o u n t I n s t r u c t i o n s
T he M R - R ack can be r ack mounted
in a standa r d 19 ” audio r ack :
• T he M R - R ack occupies one
standa r d r ack space ( 1 3/4 ”) . W e
r ecommend the use o f nylon
washe r s when r ack mounting
any unit. T his will p r otect the
f aceplate f r om any damage.
• I f you ’ r e using only two sc r ews
to mount you r unit into a r ack
space ( we don ’ t r ecommend this ) ,
we suggest that you suppo r t the
bottom o f the unit.
• Y ou may want to install the M R -
R ack into a r ack using quick-
r elease sc r ews. Quick r elease
sc r ews don ’ t r equi r e a
sc r ewd r ive r , so it ’ s easy to move
things in and out o f a r ack. Fou r
posts a r e sc r ewed into the r ack
holes, the unit goes ove r the
posts, and then knu r led nuts a r e
sc r ewed on by hand.
