To Confirm that the MR-Rack is Responding to MIDI
1. P r ess the Pe r f o r mance button on the M R - R ack ’ s f r ont panel.

2. T u r n the le f t-hand Sound T ype knob so that the lowe r le f t-hand pa r t o f the display

4. Plug a pai r o f ste r eo headphones into the M R - R ack ’ s f r ont-panel Phones j ack.
5. B r ing up the M R - R ack ’ s V olume knob as you play you r cont r olle r .
Y ou should be hea r ing notes as you play. I f you ’ r e not hea r ing anything, check you r
M I D I cabling, and make su r e that you r M I D I cont r olle r is set to t r ansmit M I D I .
Se t t ing Vol um e Le ve ls
T he M R - R ack ’ s best sound is obtained when its V olume knob is tu r ned all the way up — you
should always set it as high as possible. How high you can go be f o r e audible disto r tion
occu r s will va r y, depending on how you ’ r e using the M R - R ack. He r e a r e some tips :
• I f you ’ r e using the M R - R ack ’ s Phones j ack, the V olume knob cont r ols you r listening
level. Set it to a com f o r table level.
• I f you ’ r e using the M R - R ack with a keyboa r d o r guita r ampli f ie r , sta r t with you r amp
input at a low setting. T u r n the M R - R ack ’ s V olume up as f a r as you can without
expe r iencing disto r tion ( unless that ’ s what you want ) . T hen tu r n up you r amp channel
to a com f o r table listening level.
• I f you ’ r e r outing the M R - R ack di r ectly to a mixing console, o r indi r ectly th r ough a
patchbay, tu r n the M R - R ack ’ s V olume all the way up and make ad j ustments to the
input gain o f you r mixe r f ade r s to ensu r e the sound doesn ’ t undesi r ably disto r t.
• I f you ’ r e listening to the M R - R ack th r ough a home ste r eo, set you r ste r eo ’ s volume to its
no r mal level. W ith the M R - R ack ’ s V olume knob all the way down, play you r cont r olle r
with maximum f o r ce, o r load up the loudest sequence you have and p r ess Play. Slowly
b r ing up the M R - R ack ’ s V olume knob as f a r as you can without hea r ing disto r tion. T he
