Replacing parts

Verify that all power is turned off on the E-85A.

Insert the motherboard replacement dongle into a USB port.

Turn on the E-85A.
Wait until the E-85A reaches Idle.

On the Fiery QuickTouch screen, press the server name at the upper left corner of the display.

Select
Motherboard Replacement
icon.
The screen displays “Reading dongle...”, then displays the number of licenses left to apply to the transfer.

Select
Yes
to confirm the license transfer.
The Fiery QuickTouch displays “Applying...” to indicate the transfer of options and the backup BIOS from the hard
disk drive to the BIOS chip on the replacement motherboard.
Note:
If you select
No
, the process ends and you return to the Functions menu.

Reboot the E-85A.

Remove the motherboard replacement dongle after the E-85A reaches Idle.
Replacing parts on the motherboard
This section describes how to remove and replace the battery, DIMMs, and CPUs on the motherboard.
Before performing any of these procedures, shut down and open the E-85A (see
Motherboard battery
The battery is located at socket BAT on the motherboard.
Note:
Spare batteries are not available through your authorized service/support center. To replace the battery, use a 3V
manganese dioxide lithium coin cell battery (Panasonic CR2032 or equivalent).
