Installation and Service Guide: Color Controller E-85A
Installing hardware
Power synchronization
You can enable the power synchronization feature using the switch on the printer interface board. The default switch
position is OFF.
When you enable power synchronization, the E-85A synchronizes power with the printer’s main power off/on status. If the
printer powers off, the E-85A receives signals from the printer through the USB cable connected to the printer interface
board, and automatically starts the shutdown process. If the E-85A receives the startup signals from the printer, the E-85A
automatically powers on and begins the startup sequence.
To enable the power synchronization feature at the E-85A
1
Shut down the E-85A (see
2
Remove the port cover that is attached to the Type B USB port on the printer interface board.
3
Locate the USB cable in the accessory kit that comes with the E-85A.
Note:
The USB cable may not be provided in some regions or countries.
4
Connect one end of the USB cable to the port (Type B) on the printer interface board of the E-85A. Connect the other
end of the cable to the USB port (Type A) on the printer.
Important:
After the power synchronization is enabled, make sure to control the E-85A power using the printer.
Important:
DO NOT use the USB port on the upper printer interface board (optional) when you connect the USB
cable. The upper printer interface board does not support the power synchronization.
