Emergency expiratory valve

Prerequisites

The Savina 300 is connected to the mains power supply and to the „O2“ com-
pressed gas supply. Savina 300 is switched on.

Action

• Press the „Ventilation settings“ softkey and select „VC-CMV/VC-AC” mode.

• Set the following parameters:

– O2: 21%

– VT: 500 mL

– Ti : 5.0 s

– f: 6/min

– PEEP: 5 mbar

Action

• Press the „Alarms“ softkey

– Airway pressure limit high (Paw high): Set 10 mbar above peak pressure

Action

• Prepare the following test setup:

Test

After three cycles the Savina 300 builds up a pressure up to the airway pres-
sure limit (Paw high). Then the pressure is briefly relieved by emergency
expiratory valve to less than 6 mbar.
