Configuring Metro Ethernet Connectivity Fault Management
Note
On a Catalyst 6500 series switch that runs software release 8.7(3), when an AIS detects the link fault
condition occurs the configured number of AIS PDUs will be sent (default 5) at 1 second transmission
interval for each of the affected VLAN on the failed trunk. Then the AIS transmission period is changed
to 1 minute automatically in the software (timer spread logic). This will increase the CPU utilization at
every 1 minute until the fault condition is cleared, which is an expected behavior.
