Configuring IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet OAM
•
set errordetection link-errors sampling
{
sampling_count
}
To minimize accidentally putting a port into the errdisable state due to a one-time event that is not
a true system error condition, you can specify a
sampling_count
. The
sampling_count
determines
the number of times that a port must reach the high or low threshold value before the port is placed
in the errdisable state. For example, if the port’s high threshold value is 1000 and the sampling count
is 3, the port is errdisabled only after it has reached the 1000 threshold 3 times. The default sampling
count value is 3, and the allowed range is from 1 to 255.

Configuring IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet OAM
The Ethernet Operations, Administrations, and Maintenance (OAM) feature follows the specifications
provided in the IEEE 802.3ah document. The major Ethernet OAM features covered by this protocol are
link monitoring, remote failure indication, and a remote loopback test.
Note
We do not support remote failure indication.
This section describes how to configure IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet OAM:

Understanding How OAM Works
In the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) reference model, Ethernet OAM is an optional sublayer that is
implemented in the data link layer between the logical link control (LLC) and MAC sublayers (see
Figure 20-1
).
