Accessing the TeraStation with an Anonymous user:
To allow anonymous access to your FTP share, check [FTP] from [LAN Protocol Support] and disable access
restrictions in the TeraStation's Web Admin interface.
• To access the TeraStation via FTP, configure your FTP client software with the following settings:
- Hostname - IP address of the TeraStation
- Username - anonymous
- Password - any character string
- Port - 21
Example: ftp://192.168.11.150/
• For details on how to use FTP client software, refer to the Help for the software.
• To access your FTP share from outside of your network, you may need to configure your router and firewall.
Consult your router documentation for more information.
• If the TeraStation joins a domain, anonymous users cannot access it.
This completes FTP server confi guration.
Restrictions
The restrictions described here assume that the latest fi rmware version is installed in the TeraStation. The latest fi rmware
can be downloaded from the Buff alo Technology web site.
• If using FTP with Mac OS, sharing of Japanese fi les and folders is not supported. To share Japanese fi les and folders
with Mac OS, use an AFP connection or SMB connection instead of an FTP connection.
• In certain cases, it may not be possible to delete new or copied folders using an FTP client when using an AFP con-
nection (because the folder name of the automatically-generated ".AppleDouble" folder begins with a dot).
•
The attributes (read, write, execute) for fi les and directories cannot be changed using FTP client software.
•
If creating fi les or folders over an FTP connection, try not to exceed 250 bytes (UTF-8) for the directory path name. If
250 bytes is exceeded, reading and deleting operations may not be possible using Explorer.
