Note:
If the TeraStation is connected directly to a UPS, select [Sync with the UPS connected to this TeraStation]. If a
diff erent TeraStation is connected to the UPS, select [Sync with the UPS connected to another TeraStation on the
same network. ] (Both the sync source and sync target TeraStations must have the latest fi rmware). After making
this selection, enter the IP address of the TeraStation that will be the sync source in [Other TeraStation's IP address].
9
Reboot your TeraStation. The settings are applied after the TeraStation is restarted.
Notes:
• When the TeraStation is turned on after it was automatically shut down due to a power outage or other power
supply problem, be sure to check that the power supply has been restored. If the TeraStation is turned on
while it is still running from the UPS battery without restoring the power supply, automatic shutdown is not
performed even after the specified time has elapsed.
• If UPS recovery is enabled, after the power supply from the UPS to the TeraStation is stopped and restarted, the
TeraStation is automatically restarted (even if the power supply source is not a UPS, the TeraStation is restarted
when the power supply is restarted).
This completes the sync settings with the UPS.
Port Trunking
Two Ethernet cables can be used to establish two separate communication routes for providing redundancy of LAN
ports and improving communication reliability. The use of two Ethernet cables enables access to the TeraStation even if
one of the cables is disconnected.
Note:
A separate hub or intelligent switch is required to use the port trunking function.
The port trunking modes that can be set in the TeraStation are shown below.
[Disabled]:
Port trunking is not used.
[Round-robin] (*1):
A round-robin policy is set for providing fault tolerance and load balancing.
[Active-backup]:
An active-backup policy is set for providing fault tolerance.
[XOR] (*1):
An XOR (exclusive-or) policy is set for providing fault tolerance and load balancing.
[Broadcast]:
A broadcast policy is set for providing fault tolerance.
[Dynamic link aggregation] (*2):
An IEEE 802.3ad dynamic link aggregation policy is set.
[TLB]:
An adaptive transmit load balancing (TLB) policy is set for providing fault tolerance and load balancing.
*1 A separate intelligent switch that supports EtherChannel or other port trunking is required. Two LAN ports of the in-
telligent switch must be set for port trunking beforehand. For details on the setting procedure, see the manual supplied
with the intelligent switch.
*2 A separate intelligent switch that supports IEEE 802.3ad is required. The LACP (Link Aggregation Control Protocol)
function of the intelligent switch must be enabled beforehand. For details on the setting procedure, see the manual sup-
plied with the intelligent switch.
