Design and function
Outlet filter
The outlet filter (

) protects the outlet flame arrester (

) from any
residue from the distillation flask.
Measuring unit box (Ex d) and
flame arresters
Together with the flame arresters, the measuring unit box (

provides explosion protection by the pressure-resistant enclosure
ignition protection (Ex d). All supply and drain lines to and from
non-failsafe pipeline systems in the Ex d box are equipped with
flame arresters.
Receiver
The evaporated product that condenses again in the cooling pipe is
collected in the receiver (

). The collected quantity of product can
be measured with a differential pressure measuring device by
bubbling in nitrogen.
To fill the distillation flask (

), fresh product is fed into the receiver
until the desired volume (100 ml as per ASTM D 86) is reached.
Then, the product is pumped into the distillation flask via the
metering pump (

). The receiver is designed so that a cooling
medium can also be passed through it in order to maintain the
sample temperature.
Metering pump
To empty the receiver, the metering pump can pump product
through the outlet filter to the product outlet.
Fan
The fan (

) supports the cooling of the distillation flask after
completion of a distillation process. The fan is only cut in during the
distillation flask’s cooling phase.
