Maintenance
Removing the flame arresters
To clean the flame arrester, unscrew the inner box (
7
) from of the
outer box (
1
). The outer box remains firmly screwed onto the Ex d
box.
•
Disconnect the flame arrester from the pipeline. To do this,
unscrew the Swagelok screw connection and the screw pipe
connection on the inner box of the flame arrester.
The inner box (
7
) contains the flame filters (
2
,
4
).
•
Unscrew the inner box out of the outer box (
1
). In doing so,
hold the outer box in place with a spanner to prevent it from
being turned out of the Ex d box. Always hold the inner box in
an upright position to prevent the flame filters from falling out.
•
Remove the three flame filters. If necessary, use a blunt object
to carefully force them out of the inner box. A kind of punch
made of plastic is best suited to prevent damage to the flame
filters.
Checks
•
Check that the O-ring (
6
) is in perfect condition. Replace it, if
necessary. Replacement parts can be obtained from BARTEC
BENKE.
•
Check that the flame filters are clean and in perfect condition. If
necessary, clean the flame filters or replace them:
Cleaning
NOTE
When cleaning at high pressure (air, water, vapor),
place the flame filters on a support lattice to avoid
damage.
−
For dry dirt particles, it is sufficient to blow the flame arrester
clear using compressed air.
−
In case of accumulation of stubborn dirt deposits in the flame
filter gaps, place the flame filters in a solvent that dissolves the
dirt without causing corrosion to the filter material. Then blow it
clear with compressed air and dry it.
−
Steam-cleaning is frequently also effective (maximum
permissible temperature of 250 °C).
Prior to assembly, all components must be absolutely dry!
