Design Considerations

Transmit Skew

The transceivers are configured to operate in a mode that minimizes the amount of 

transmit skew that can be introduced between lanes. Full details on that maximum amount 

of transmit skew can be found by looking at T

LLSKEW

 in the appropriate device data sheet. 

Under some circumstances it is possible that T

LLSKEW

 can exceed the PMA Tx Skew budget 

defined in 802.3-2012. If it is necessary to keep within this skew budget, then the 

appropriate amount must be borrowed from the PCB and medium sections of the budget to 

keep the total amount of skew within range.
