Measurements

Power and signal grounds are connected to frame ground, therefore all circuit
troubleshooting can be performed using the metal frame (chassis) as the grounding
point. If more information is needed to locate connectors or test points, refer to

Plug/Jack Connector Locations

Unless otherwise specified, the following voltage tolerances are used within this

section:

Service Flowchart

Note:

A Service Flowchart that outlines one possible approach to

troubleshooting and repair of the printer has been provided.

The Service Flowchart is an overview of the path a service

technician could take, using this technical manual, to service

the printer engine and options.

To use the Service Flowchart, start at Block 1 to identify the problem. After you have

identified the problem, return to the Service Flowchart and proceed to Block 2 where
you inspect and clean the printer (a through cleaning frequently solves many printer
problems). You continue down the Flowchart in this manner, always returning to the

next block in the Service Flowchart after you have completed the tasks outlined in the
current block.

If you choose not to use the Service Flowchart, it is recommended that you start at the
appropriate Repair Analysis Procedure (RAP) Table and proceed from there.
