Installing Hard Disk(s)
Your controller contains seven hard disk bays, six of which are
empty where you can add optional hard disks to increase available
space for downloaded fonts.
Caution: Any time you add an internal hard disk, you need to
assign an identification number to it. Do not turn on the
printer or any attached hard disk until the disk has been
assigned a number. Also, the last disk added should have
termination resistors installed. See your SCSI disk
documentation for details on assigning the ID number
and installing the resistors.
The instructions in this section cover installing one hard disk. If you
have multiple hard disks, you need a ribbon cable with enough
headers to handle the additional disks.
After you access the hard disk bays using the procedure in
“Accessing the Controller Board and Bays” earlier in this chapter,
install the hard disk(s) using the following procedure.
1. Position the new disk in front of the desired bay with the
ribbon connector to the left (2.7). In this example we are
loading it into bay 2.
