Color Rendering Dictionary (CRD)
A program which translates RGB (red, green, blue) values used to
CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) values while maintaining
color accuracy. These dictionaries are required because different
color system devices have different value systems. For example,
monitors use RGB values and printer inks are based on CMYK
values.
Color Separation
Breaking a color image into it’s primary colors for printing. For
example, a four color separation includes separate cyan, magenta,
yellow, and black files.
Color Space
The area in which a color device interprets and reproduces color
using it’s own technology.
Colorimeter
A device to measure reflected or transmitted light. It then calculates
the measurements compared to a common standard based on the
human eye’s normal interpretation of red, blue, and green stimulus
under a given light source.
Color Separations
The break down of an image to its component color parts ( usually
cyan, magenta, yellow, and sometimes black) for three or four color
process printing.
Controller
An intelligent board located inside the Accel-a-Graphix CT4; it is
made up of hardware and software which controls the controller’s
engine.
Control Protocol
A method of controlling the flow of data between computer devices,
either hardware (DTR/DSR) or software (XON/XOFF). Also called
“handshaking” or “transmission protocol.”
