5) Check that the magazine pusher valve is
ON
and the pressure is set to between 20 and 35
PSI. Note that a pressure lower than 20 PSI places a lesser load on the pneumatic system.
However, if you have magazine feed problems, increase the pressure to ensure smooth
operation. For very large case sizes, the pressure should be set slightly higher, but should not
exceed 50 PSI.
Sensors equipped with LEDs and the respective PLC input and output LEDs need to be in the
ON
or
OFF
state as tabulated in Section 10.7: ‘LED STATUS TABLES’. The
ON/OFF
condition is a
transient
ON
and depending on the specific setting or function, the
ON
time can be so short that
you may not see it even with an assistant actuating the controls.
First, check the
HOME
position LED status. Then one-step at a time, check the LED status in
each of the nine
MANUAL
steps. Continuing the
MANUAL
step sequence after step 9 returns
you to step 1 and backup the
MANUAL
sequence. If an LED is not as tabulated, stop!
Look for the possible cause. Check for:
•
Improperly adjusted sensor or target.
•
Incomplete mechanism travel.
•
An open or short circuit.
Allow the air pressure to bleed off before attempting any adjustments or replacement of
suspected faulty components.
NOTE: Many of the input signals to the PLC originate from
inductive or optical sensors as noted on the electrical control
circuit. Without a target, they are similar to a normally open
(‘NO’) switch. With a target in their sensing range, they turn
ON and connect the load to positive through an PNP output
transistor. These sensors are equipped with an LED on the
wire lead end of their housing. These LEDs are turned ON
when the target is in their sensing range.
WARNING!
PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION. STAY CLEAR OF ALL
MECHANISMS.
WARNING!
TURN OFF THE MANUAL AIR VALVE AND ELECTRICAL
POWER.
