Use the Focus control on the stage controller to slowly move the sample toward the
objective approximately 10 to 20 μm to change the focal (Z) depth. The distance will
depend upon the thickness of the layers. When the spectrum changes significantly, click
to see the search results. Continue moving further into
the sample to identify all layers.
10. Select a
Profile
type and adjust the profile settings as needed to create the chemical image.
For this demonstration, we used the MCR profile type with 5 expected components.

Image Cross Section
and use the
Grab tool
to position and size the
preview box
over an area of interest in the sample.
Note that there are separate Preview Size sliders for Y and Z (depth). The height of the
preview box shows the length along the Y-axis of the chemical image data.

you may damage the objective or the sample.
