 How to level the sample holder
1. Lower stage and bring to front to make it easier to access single slide holder fasteners.
2. Loosen the three hold-down screws so they are barely threaded in their holes.
3. Unthread the three thumbscrews so that the bottom of each thumbscrew is not in contact
with the stage.
4. Use your fingers to push down gently on the back-left corner of the slide holder (see
Figure 19 ). Then turn the back-left thumbscrew clockwise until you feel the bottom of
the screw touch the stage.
5. Continue turning the back-left thumbscrew clockwise 1.5 turns to raise the slide holder
in that corner.
6. Repeat step 4 for the front-left corner of the slide holder and the front-left thumbscrew.
NOTICE Anytime during leveling when moving the stage, the objectives
can potentially collide with objects on the sample holder.
