5. Replace the power module fuses.
a. Remove the power module cover.
b. Disconnect the power module fuses.
c. Connect the new fuses. It does not matter which way they are plugged in.
d. Reattach the power module cover.
6. Reinstall the power module by reattaching the screws that hold it in place.
7. Reattach the top and front covers of the DSQ II.
8. Restart the DSQ II.
Replacing the Rear Cooling Fans
The rear cooling fans provide the necessary airflow to keep the DSQ II cool. The fans should
be cleaned every four months by wiping them with a damp cloth. This helps prevent dust
from accumulating inside the instrument.
To replace the rear cooling fans, you will need:
• New Rear Cooling Fan(s)
• Wrench, Allen, 3 mm
• Wrench, open-ended, 1/4-in.
1. Cover the work area with a lint-free cloth.
2. Shut down and vent the DSQ II, as described in "Shutting Down the GC/MS System"
on page 18 .
3. Remove the front and top covers, as described in " Removing the Front and Top Covers"
on page 25 .
CAUTION - INSTRUMENT DAMAGE. Only use a DSQ II fuse or else you could damage
the instrument. Never replace DSQ II fuses with those of a different type, voltage, or
current rating. Also, to avoid damaging the boards, you should always wear an
electrostatic discharge (ESD) strap on your wrist when replacing fuses.
WARNING - ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD. Before proceeding. unplug the DSQ II to
avoid an electrical shock.
