Replacing the valve guide
NOTE:
After replacing a valve guide, check the valve
seat contact area. To check the valve seat
contact area, see Chapter 5,
“
Checking the
valve seat.

Remove the valve guide

using the
special service tool from the combustion
chamber side.
2.
Install a new valve guide

using the
special service tools from the camshaft
side until the valve guide installer

to
the specified height

NOTE:
Apply engine oil to the outer surface of a new
valve guide.

Insert the special service tool into the
valve guide

, and then ream the valve
guide.
NOTE:
•
Apply engine oil to the inner surface of the
valve guide.
•
Turn the valve guide reamer clockwise to
ream the valve guide.
•
Do not turn the reamer counterclockwise
when removing the reamer.
•
Be sure to clean the valve guide after ream-
ing it.
4.
Measure the valve guide inside diameter.
