DIRECTORY STRUCTURE OF THE INSTALLATION CD

INSTALLATION OF MICROSOFT SQL SERVER 2005 EXPRESS EDITION

The version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition provided by default is SP3. For the Windows XP
environment, the OS should have been upgraded with SP3. If you install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
SP3 on Windows XP SP2, this can cause system malfunction or blue screen from abnormal operation.

During the installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP3, you are prompted to install MSXM6 if it
has not been installed. Installing MSXML6 on Windows XP SP3 will cause an error during the installation. If you
encounter a problem, refer to the troubleshooting section in this manual.

The following installation process is not applicable to SAMS Pro Lite.

Run the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express installer ﬁ le SQLEXPR.EXE from the CD.
