SmarTrax™ MD Calibration & Operation Manual
SmarTrax MD will not disengage
when the steering wheel is turned.
The Disengage setting is incorrect.
Adjust the Disengage Setting in
the field computer.
The encoder is damaged.
1. Navigate to the SmarTrax Sensor
Setup screen.
2. Manually turn the steering wheel
while monitoring the Wheel Angle
value. If no wheel angle change
and the problem persists, replace
the mechanical drive.
Cannot manually steer left or right
from the System Diagnostics
screen.
No high current power
Check the node status lights for
high current (HC) power.
Check the power/ground fuses
and connections.
There is a short or break in the
cable.
Inspect the cable for shorts or
breaks.
The PWM Max settings are
incorrect.
Verify PWM Max settings are set
correctly in the field computer.
There is an active error in the
SmarTrax MD system.
Refer to Error Messages section on
page 100 to troubleshoot the error
message.
System manually steers the wrong
way from the System Diagnostics
screen.
The motor hardware inside the
mechanical drive is damaged.
1. Navigate to the SmarTrax Manual
Steering screen.
2. Toggle the master switch on
and off, verifying that the Raven
LED logo changes from white
steady to blue steady.
3. Drive the motor at various settings
while monitoring the Actual
Current value. If no current is
drawn and the problem persists,
replace the mechanical drive.
The steering wheel turns by itself
when the power is on and
SmarTrax MD is not engaged.
There is an internal leak in the
machine’s steering orbital.
Check for and fix leaks in the
steering orbital.
The machine may have a reactive
steering unit.
Verify the steering unit type
functions properly.
Possible damage to the
mechanical drive.
1. Navigate to the SmarTrax Manual
Steering screen.
2. Toggle the master switch on
and off, verifying that the Raven
LED logo changes from white
steady to blue steady.
3. Drive the motor at various settings
while monitoring the Actual
Current value. If no current is
drawn and the problem persists,
replace the mechanical drive.
