The IDE hard disk assembly kit includes the following:

IDE hard disk with ribbon cable attached

Only one internal IDE hard disk is supported. However, you can add
up to three external SCSI hard disks, Jaz drives, and/or Zip drives to
the printer.
» Note: A Phillips screwdriver is needed for this procedure.

Caution: It's very important to protect the printer controller board and
other circuit boards, such as SIMMs and the 1200x1200 dpi Multi-Res
daughterboard, from electrostatic damage while performing this task.
Review the anti-static guidelines in the “Removing the Controller
Board” section of chapter 2,“Memory and System Software.”
1 Turn off the printer, and then disconnect the power cord and
all interface cables from the printer.
2 Access the printer controller board.
Use the instructions in the “Removing the Controller Board,” sec-
tion of chapter 2, “Memory and System Software,” of this manual.
3 Position the controller board so that you’re looking at the
front of the interface panel.
