Copier Menu/Copy Mode/Scan Size
Purpose
Select the width (horizontal size) and length (vertical size) from
the origin of the image to be scanned to crop (scan only part of)
an image or to reduce the copying time for images smaller than
letter or A4.

Notes
These values must be selected if you are using the automatic
document feeder (ADF) as well as the flatbed for copying.
The more you crop out of a scan, the less time it takes to process
and print. For example, if you need to copy a photograph, you can
get faster copies by placing it at the upper-right corner of the
scanner bed and cropping the scan to fit the dimensions of the
photograph (the scanner bed has rulers that mark inches.)
Examples
You can also use the Scan Size menu to crop
an image. Cropping is done from right and
bottom sides of the page.
For example, look at the image shown to the
right:

you’ll get this:
