4 Test communication between the printer and the PC.
You can do this by sending a file from one of your applications, or
you can see “Testing Communication” in chapter 6, “Trouble-
shooting,” of the
Operation guide.

If you're replacing a PostScript printer, you can probably start printing
now with the printing software already in place. Refer to your applica-
tion documentation for instructions on sending documents to the
printer.
However, if you want to be able to use all your printer’s special fea-
tures (like collation, 600x600 dpi and 1200x1200 dpi printing), or if
you've never printed to a PostScript printer before, we recommend
you take a few minutes to make sure you have the following printing
software installed:

A PostScript printer driver

Printer description files (if you use QuarkXPress, Aldus Page-
Maker, or Adobe Photoshop)

Getting Started manual for details on installing printing
software.

Use the Administration/Communications/Serial menu to set the serial
interface communication values used for printer-host communication.
