This chapter provides information on the security key and BuzzBox
Lite options which are available for purchase from your QMS vendor.
See appendix A, “QMS Customer Support,” for sales and support
information.

Caution: Even though both the security and serial options have a DB-
9 interface, the connectors are keyed and they can’t be interchanged.
Make sure that you install the security key only in the slot marked
SECURITY on the back of the printer.
An optional security key is available to password protect the Operator
Control and the Administration menus. When a security key is
installed, the Installation menu appears in the printer’s menu struc-
ture.

The security key port is located on the back, left side of the printer. To
install a security key, use the following procedure.

Note:
The security key and the copier key use the same port. The
security key is used to configure the menu, and then it is removed and
stored in a secure location. The copier key remains installed in the
security port when using the copier. So if you’re using the copier, you
may need to remove its key in order to use the security key feature.
