Connecting to a LocalTalk interface involves basically three steps:
assembling the proper interface cabling (use a LocalTalk-type kit such
as Farallon's PhoneNET, available from your QMS vendor), making
the connection, and making sure the necessary printing files are
installed on the Macintosh.
The optional LocalTalk interface is used to print if
Your host is any member of the Apple Macintosh family. The
instructions in this chapter explain how to connect a Macintosh
(through a direct connection or through a LocalTalk network con-
nection) to the QMS 2060 Print System.
Your host is an IBM PC or compatible microcomputer, worksta-
tion, minicomputer, or mainframe computer that connects through
a print network (such as AppleShare) using LocalTalk-type con-
nectors and boxes.
If you’re connecting to a host such as one of these, you may need
additional hardware or software. See your host or network docu-
mentation for details specific to your setup.

To connect your printer to a single Macintosh, you must have
