4.3.7 Machine Control
This menu item enables/disables Machine Control SLAVE mode, in which an
external machine (that conforms to the SONY 9-pin serial machine control
specification) can control a slaved RADAR II system. While under Machine
Control, RADAR II’s Play, Rewind, Fast Forward, Record, and Locate functions cen
be performed via remote commands, as if it were a Sony BVU-950 machine.
During SLAVE mode, tracks can be armed/disarmed manually on RADAR II. In
addition, RADAR II will respond to external track arm commands which adhere to
the Sony P2 extension.
Machine Control Hookup
To allow RADAR II to be controlled via machine control, connect a DB-9 cable
(straight pin-to-pin wiring) from your machine control device to the BOTTOM
DB-9 connector on the MF-3 card (the same card used for RADARLINK).
Enabling Machine Control
To enable Machine Control, select the appropriate item from the SYSTEM menu.
RADAR II responds with:
When Machine Control is enabled, the system display shows a flashing “S” in the
upper-right corner:
To disable Machine Control operation, re-select the Machine Control item from the
System menu.
