The available active modes are: Standard (see “Building a DAC Curve in
Standard or ASME III Mode” on page 156), ASME-3 (see “Building a DAC Curve
in Standard or ASME III Mode” on page 156), JIS (see “JIS DAC” on page 169),
and Custom (see “Custom DAC Curves” on page 170).
11.3.2 Applying Reference Correction
You can apply reference correction to the digital analysis of the live A-scan and
DAC/TCG mode. Reference correction allows full gain manipulation of either the live
echo peaks or the DAC curve while providing the percentage of amplitude or dB
comparison of the actual peak-to-curve ratio. In this way, you can use scanning gain
while maintaining an accurate measurement reading of the ratio of the gated peak to
the DAC curve for sizing purposes. The gated echo amplitude is corrected back to the
reference gain level for amplitude evaluation compared to the DAC curve.
To apply reference correction
1. In the DAC/TCG dialog box, press the Tab key to move to the Ref Correct
parameter.
2. Turn the adjustment knob to select On .
3. Press the Tab key to move to the 20-80 DAC View parameter.
4. Turn the adjustment knob to select On or Off .
5. Press the Tab key to move to the Curve Type parameter.
6. Turn the adjustment knob to select Straight or Curve .
7. If you have selected the Custom DAC/TCG mode, move to the Curve No.
parameter as follows:
a) Turn the adjustment knob to enable curves 1–6.
b) Press the Tab key to move to each enabled curve, and then turn the
adjustment knob to select a
dB value.
8. Press the Shift, Tab key sequence to return to the live A-scan display and begin the
DAC/TCG setup.
