Risk of injury
Never charge a battery while it is installed in
the vehicle, unless you use a battery charger
that has been tested and approved for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles. With these battery
chargers it is possible to charge the battery
without first removing it from the vehicle. Oth-
erwise, the vehicle’s electronic system may
be damaged. Before charging the battery,
check the central vent for correct seating.
Batteries without a central vent must be re-
moved before charging.
Only charge the battery in a well ventilated ar-
ea. As the battery is being charged, gases can
escape and generate minor explosions, which
may injure you and other persons or cause
damage to the paintwork or acid corrosion on
the vehicle.

Risk of injury
You can obtain information about batteries
and battery chargers with which it is possible
to charge the battery while it is installed in the
vehicle from a qualified specialist workshop,
e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
