Batteries

Have the batteries charged at a qualified
specialist workshop. Mercedes-Benz recom-
mends that you use a Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre for this purpose. If you are charging the
batteries yourself, observe the operating instruc-
tions for your battery charger.

Only use battery chargers with a maximum
voltage of 14.8 V.
Starter battery
Make sure that the battery charger is
switched off and connect it to the ter-
minals on the starter battery. Observe
the notes in the operating instructions
for the battery charger when doing so.
Refit the charged starter battery and
fold the bar down.
Fit the starter battery in the engine
compartment.
Fold the retainer down.

Make sure that the base plate and the bat-
tery securing rings are fitted securely.

Always connect the battery in the order de-
scribed below. Never swap the terminal clamps.
You may otherwise damage the vehicle electron-
ics.
Reconnecting the starter battery
Make sure that the consumer battery is
fitted and connected correctly in the
boot.
Turn the key to position
0
in the ignition
lock and remove it.
Connect the positive terminal clamp
and secure the cover.
Connect the negative terminal clamp.
Fit the breather hose.

Make sure that a cell cap is fitted between
the battery and the breather hose.
Switch on the ignition.
Start the engine.
Check the vehicle functions.

Risk of acid burns
There is a risk of acid burns during the
charging procedure due to the gases which
escape from the battery. Do not lean over
the battery when it is being charged.

Do not drive unless the consumer battery is
fitted and connected correctly.
Have work carried out on the consumer bat-
tery at a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
