COMAND navigation system* (introduction)
If possible, carry out the update when the vehicle
is stationary. The DVD read speed is higher when
the vehicle is stationary than when it is in mo-
tion, so the update will be quicker.
If you carry out the update with the engine
switched off and the vehicle battery does not
have sufficient charge, COMAND may automati-
cally switch off during the process in order to
protect the battery. If this occurs, restart the up-
date with the engine running.
Loading a DVD into the single DVD drive

printed side facing upwards.
COMAND draws the DVD in.

means of an LED.
LED off = magazine tray is empty
LED constantly lit = magazine tray is loaded

Risk of poisoning
Never leave the engine running in enclosed
spaces. The exhaust gases contain carbon
monoxide. Inhaling exhaust fumes consti-
tutes a health hazard and could lead to loss
of consciousness or even death.
