Natural wear of brake drum and brake pad sometimes makes a readjustment of the wheel
brakes necessary to preserve the stroke of the brake cylinder as completely as possible.
To achieve good brake retardation it is necessary to keep the clearance of brake pad and brake
drum as low as possible.
Checking the air play:
• Actuate the service brake with full pressure and check the stroke of the brake cylinder. In
case the way on the clevis amounts to more than 2/3 of the maximum cylinder stroke (on
piston type cylinder approx. 80-90 mm, on membrane brake cylinders approx. 35 mm), the
brake must necessarily be readjusted.
