Detailed information about cable specifications, termination and connectors are
provided in the referenced cable drawings.
3
Unless otherwise specified, all cables are provided with the SN90 delivery.
4
In order to ease the access for maintenance purposes, and to allow for vibration,
make sure that some slack is provided for each cable.
5
Before you do the SN90 cabling, ensure that the relevant circuit breakers are
switched off.
6
Observe the basic cable requirements.
Connecting the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to AC
mains and vessel ground
There are two Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) locations. In most cases, there is one
system in the sonar room, and one in the acoustic laboratory. One is used to power the
Transceiver Unit. The other is used to power the Processor Unit and the display. Each
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) must be connected to AC mains and grounded
according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Prerequisites
You must be equipped with a standard set of tools. This tool set must comprise
the normal tools for cable installation, such as different screwdriver types, pliers, a
cable stripper and a soldering iron. Each tool must be provided in various sizes. We
recommend that all tools are demagnetized to protect your equipment. Depending on the
tasks at hand, additional tools may be required.
Context
It is important to ensure continuous operation of the SN90 independent of varying
quality of the vessel's mains supply. The Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) must
have the capacity to independently maintain power to the SN90 for a minimum of 10
minutes. This ensures that the SN90 can be switched off in a controlled manner in the
event of a power failure.
Uninterruptible power supply units are not included in the standard SN90 delivery.
These items must be purchased locally.
Observe the documentation provided by the manufacturer for power and grounding
details.
Procedure
1
Connect the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to the vessel's AC mains.
2
Connect the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to vessel's ground.
