Ventilation System
Interior Natural Ventilation
The Pilothouse has two side aluminum, sliding windows trimmed with black vinyl, two
rectangular 7” x 16” (17.78 cm x 40.64 cm) opening ports located in the Aft bulkhead, as
well as the two single, weather-tight, welded aluminum Dutch-style doors. The Saloon
has five aluminum, sliding, weather-tight windows, one 12” (30.48 cm) round stainless
steel opening port with screen, and a double weather-tight aluminum door. The Galley
has a weather-tight welded aluminum Dutch-style door. The Master Stateroom has two,
24” x 24” (60.96 cm x 60.96 cm) Lewmar opening hatches, with teak framed screens
over the bed. There are also eleven stainless steel, rectangular, 8” x 16” (20.32 cm x
40.64 cm) side opening ports with screens that provide natural ventilation and light to the
below deck accommodations.
Engine Room Ventilation
Natural ventilation for the Engine Room is provided through aluminum, screened, air
through vent louvers located in the house sides. The air is ducted through a plenum to the
Engine Room.
There is also an aluminum vent louver in the house Aft bulkhead. Air is ducted to the
Engine Room through a 4” (10.16 cm) I.D. flexible duct located behind the Starboard
settee.
Engine Room Exhaust Fan
A Delta ‘T’ System 1200 CFM (34 M³) Centrifugal Exhaust Fan, Model SC600-36, is
located in the Forward end of the Engine Room, Port side. The fan blows air
out of
the
Engine Room air space through an aluminum louvered vent in the Port side, thereby
bringing in outside air into the Engine Room. Operation of the Engine Room exhaust fan
removes stale, hot air, cools operating equipment, and provides fresh combustion air for
the Diesel equipment.
Operation of the Engine Room exhaust fan is not required
while underway.
However for personal comfort, the Engine Room exhaust fan should be
operating when the Engine Room is occupied. The exhaust fan is operated by turning
ON
the circuit breaker on the 120/240V AC Distribution Panel No. 1 in the Pilothouse
labeled ‘
ENGINE ROOM EXHAUST FAN
’.
