Close inlet covers tightly.
Switching from Generator to Shore Power
To switch from
Generator power to Shore Power
, you should do the following:
1.
Always
wear shoes
when connecting to Shore Power.
2.
Take all electrical loads off the 120/240V AC system by turning
OFF
ALL
120/240V AC equipment and appliances.
3.
Turn to
OFF
the Power Selection switches on 120/240V AC Distribution Panel
No. 1 and 120/240V AC Distribution Panel No. 2.
4.
Locate the proper
50 Amp
Shore Power connections assigned to your vessel.
5.
Turn
OFF
the circuit breaker at the Shore Power connections on the
dock
BEFORE
connecting ship’s Shore Power cords.
6.
If you are connecting to Shore Power using the Cablemaster System (Aft
connection), extend the power cords using the Cablemaster System. Refer to
Cablemaster System in this manual for Cablemaster operations.
7.
If connecting to Shore Power at the Bow (Forward connection), connect the ship’s
Shore Power cord
AT VESSEL FIRST
.
8.
Connect Shore Power cords at the dock’s Shore Power connections. Allow for
tidal rise and fall, making sure the power cords are
never
in the water.
9.
Turn
ON,
one at a time,
the circuit breakers at the Shore Power connections on
the
dock.
10.
On the
SHORE POWER INLET SELECTOR SWITCH
Panel, select the
electrical power source for
INLET NO. 1
;
either
FWD
if connected at the Bow
or
AFT
if connected at the Stern (Cablemaster System). Then select the electrical
power source for
INLET NO. 2
;
either
FWD
if connected at the Bow or
AFT
if
connected at the Stern (Cablemaster System).
11.
Check the
input
dock voltage for
INLET NO 1
by setting the Volt/Hertz Meter
Selector Switch on the top of the AC Distribution Panel to position 1.
12.
Observe the voltage displayed and adjust (set) the Tap Selector Switch for INLET
NO. 1. If the volt display shows 208 (or close to 208) set the Tap Selector Switch
for INLET NO. 1 to ‘
208 V AC DOCK VOLTS’.
If the display shows 240 (or
close to it) set the Tap Selector Switch to
‘240V AC DOCK VOLTS’
.
13.
Verify the input dock voltage by setting the Volt/Hertz Meter to position 3. The
display should match the Tap Selector Switch setting. If it does not, call the
Dockmaster for assistance.
14.
Repeat steps 11 to 13 for INLET NO. 2, using position 2 and 4 on the Volt/Hertz
Meter.
15.
Next, on 120/240V AC Distribution Panel No. 1 and 120/240V AC Distribution
Panel No. 2, position each selector switch to the appropriate power source:
SHORE 1
for Aft (Cablemaster) connection or
SHORE 2
for Forward
connection.
16.
Turn back
ON
the 120/240V AC equipment and appliances you need.
17.
Allow the Generators to run 3-5 minutes with
NO LOAD
before shutting down to
allow coolant and fuel to carry away heat from engines.
