The QFX10000-30C-M line card is designed to provide secure Ethernet communication across high-
speed links. The card consists of 30 ports of 28 Gbps QSFP+ Pluggable Solution (QSFP28) that are
Media Access Control Security (MACsec) capable. The ports support speeds of 100 Gbps or 40 Gbps
and can automatically detect the type of transceiver installed and set the configuration to the
appropriate speed.
As part of Juniper Networks Open Cloud Interconnect, the QFX10000-30C-M line card brings secure
data center interconnect (DCI), inter-data center and intra-data center connectivity using MACsec at
100 Gbps and 40 Gbps speeds. When configured for 40 Gigabit Ethernet, a QSFP28 port can breakout
to 4 independent 10 small form-factor pluggable plus+ (SFP+) ports. MACsec provides point-to-point
security on Ethernet links between directly connected nodes and is capable of identifying and
preventing most security threats, including denial of service, intrusion, man-in-the-middle,
masquerading, passive wiretapping, and playback attacks.
The QFX10000-30C-M line card is supported on Junos OS Release 17.4R1-S2 and later. Support for
channelizing the 40-Gigabit Ethernet ports to four independent 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports is supported
in Junos OS Release 18.2R1 and later.
This topic describes:
Overview
The line cards in QFX10000 modular switches combine a Packet Forwarding Engine and Ethernet
interfaces in a single assembly. Line cards are field-replaceable units (FRUs) that can be installed in the
line card slots on the front of the switch chassis. The line cards are hot-insertable and hot-removable;
you can remove and replace them without powering off the switch or disrupting switch functions. See
