3. Make sure that the coupling spacer is removed, if applicable.
The pump ships with the coupling spacer removed.
4. Unlock power to the driver.
5. Make sure that everyone is clear, and then jog the driver long enough to determine that the
direction of rotation corresponds to the arrow on the bearing housing or casing.
6. Lock out power to the driver.
Impeller-clearance check
The impeller-clearance check ensures the following:
• The pump turns freely.
• The pump operates at optimal efficiency for long equipment life and low energy
consumption.

NOTICE:
Service temperature in an ATEX classified environment is limited to the area classification
specified on the ATEX tag to the pump.

The total axial adjustment of the impeller between the suction seal ring and the stuffing box
cover should be as noted in the chart below.

Importance of a proper impeller clearance
A proper impeller clearance ensures that the pump runs at high performance.
WARNING:
The impeller clearance setting procedure must be followed. Improperly setting the
clearance or not following any of the proper procedures can result in sparks, unexpected heat
generation, and equipment damage.
