Sun Systems Attachment
All 3570 models can be installed on all Sun workstations that support a SCSI-2 differential ended adapter.
For Sun systems, SunOS 5.x (Solaris 2 or higher) is required to support the 3570 models. The Sun Device
Driver provides specific Sun device support and is included in the ship group. ADSM for Sun Solaris 1.2.1
with PTFs also supports the 3570. No interposers are required when attaching to these systems.
Figure 230 on page INST-50 shows the cable feature codes for the cable of the appropriate length.
HP-UX Systems Attachment
The 3570 models are supported on Hewlett— Packard (HP) 9000 Series 800 Business Servers. They are
also supported in other HP-PB based servers which support a SCSI Fast/Wide Differential adapter
including:
HP9000 Series /T Class Server (T500, T520, T600)
HP9000 Series /K Class Server (K4xx, K2xx)
HP9000 Series /D Class Server (D3xx, D2xx)
The Models B11 and B12 require installation in a support rack or space in an existing customer rack (one
Bxx unit per 6 EIA positions). The maximum SCSI cable length is 25 meters. See Figure 230 on
page INST-50 and the Introduction and Planning Guide (GA32-0392) for additional SCSI cable planning
information.
HP-UX 10.0x supports the IBM3570 models through HP-UX 10.3x. The device drivers are included in the
ship group. No interposers are required with these attachments.
Figure 230 on page INST-50 shows the cable feature codes for the cable of the appropriate length.
Windows NT Systems
The 3570 models are supported in Intel based processors. These include Intel 486DX or Pentium*
processor with sufficient RAM and disk space for operation of Microsoft's Windows NT operating system.
An appropriate SCSI F/W Differential adapter and associated cable is also required. Models B21 and B22
are specifically designed to be installed into the IBM Netfinity Rack (9306900) or NetBAY22 (9306200)
rack. They can be attached to IBM Netfinity 5500 or 7000 PC Server 325 or 330 systems that support
attachment with an included adapter card. A 4.5 meter SCSI cable is included for these attachments. The
maximum SCSI cable length is 25 meters. See Figure 230 on page INST-50 and the Introduction and
Planning Guide (GA32-0392) for additional SCSI cable planning information.
Microsoft's Windows NT Server Version 4.0, and later releases, support the IBM 3570. The Windows NT
Device Drivers are included in the ship group. No interposers are required for these attachments.
Figure 230 on page INST-50 shows the cable feature codes for the cable of the appropriate length.
Model B01, B11 and B21 Connections
Refer to Figure 234 on page INST-53 for typical SCSI cabling diagrams while performing the following
steps.
1. If this machine is a Model B01, remove the back cover plate from the library. The cover is
attached using plastic snap-in retainers. Rotate the plastic retainers one-quarter turn in either
direction to release the cover.
