AS/400 SCSI Checkout

To verify that a 3570 is attached properly to an AS/400, do the following:

1. Type WRKCFGSTS *DEV ASTLVL(*BASIC) at the prompt. The following screen appears, which

shows all of the attached tape device names. In this example, TAP13

is the device name to use

for VFYTAP.

Note: If the Magstar MP is not recognized by the host, re-IPL the AS/400 IOP card to which the

Magstar MP is attached. Ensure that the AS/400 System Value for Autoconfigure Devices is
set to on.

2. Press F12 to get a command line.

3. Type VFYTAP (the Verify Tape command) on the AS/400 command line.

4. Type tap13, the device associated with the 3570 tape device.

5. Select the Basic read/write test

option on the Tape Device Test Menu and follow the instructions

provided.
