FRU Removal and Replacement Procedures
Each FRU has its own specific format. A detailed illustration identified with numerals in reverse
representation (for example,
1
) indicates a part that must be removed. When a part is ESD-sensitive, it
is identified with the ESD symbol that indicates that the ESD grounding strap is required.
Compare the FRU in the subsystem to the replacement FRU. Note the cable and plug locations, and
method of retention (screws, nuts, washers, or clips). Identify and label all wiring connectors to avoid
incorrect connections when reinstalling the FRU. The removal then begins as indicated.
Follow the removal instructions and obey all Attention and Danger notes.
The replacement procedure is the reverse of the removal procedure, unless otherwise specified. If other
procedures must be performed to verify the replacement, they are defined in the FRU’s replacement
procedure.
The same screws, nuts, washers, or clips are used in the replacement procedures unless otherwise noted.

The following tools are used to perform certain procedures on the 3570 subsystem.

– Phillips
Allen wrench (2.5 mm and larger)
Nut-driver (7 mm)
Head-actuator cable holding template (Figure 296 on page CARR-25 )
