Hot-swap power supply removal
The server comes with one power supply. You can add a
second power supply to provide redundant power. Each
power supply has two status indicators; see “Power
supplies” on page 250 for information about the status
indicators.
Attention
You cannot hot-swap a power supply if the server has
only one power supply installed.
Refer to the illustration in “Hot-swap power supply
installation” on page 196 while you perform the steps in
this procedure.
To remove a hot-swap power supply:
Caution
Never remove the cover on a power supply or any
part that has the following label attached.
Hazardous voltage, current, and energy levels are
present inside any component that has this label
attached. There are no serviceable parts inside these
components.

1. If the server has only one power supply installed, turn
off the server and peripheral devices (see “Preparing
to install options” on page 246); otherwise, go to the
next step.
2. Remove the power supply

a. Remove the blue shipping thumbscrew from its
hole

You do not need to replace the shipping
thumbscrew.
b. Remove the power-cord strain-relief bracket
