Step Procedure 6--28 Search Pattern Definition

After *SEARCH* from the scratchpad is up--selected onto

a valid search pattern (SP) waypoint, the active flight plan

waypoint transitions to the SEARCH PATTERNS page,

shown in Figure 6--116. The SEARCH PATTERNS page

permits selection of the desired search pattern.

The following default values are used when transition to the pattern

definition page in the active flight plan occurs:

When *SEARCH* is placed on the FROM waypoint, PPOS and CUR

TRK are used for the default start position and initial track,

respectively.

When *SEARCH* is placed on the TO or subsequent waypoint, the

waypoint displayed as the default start position and the inbound

course into the waypoint is displayed as the default initial track

value.

When *SEARCH* is placed on an invalid waypoint, an INVALID

ENTRY

scratchpad

message

displayed.

PBPB

(place/bearing/place/bearing) or PD (place/distance) temporary

waypoint are invalid search waypoint.
